A WARTIME bomber pilot who met his hero Winston Churchill after the Second World War has died aged 91.As a young man Edward "Eddie" Roocroft flew 11 missions as the pilot of a Lancaster, bombing targets in Germany and Czechoslovakia.He continued flying after the war until he retired aged 65, varying from being a stunt pilot for a film to carrying lions to Africa.Mr Roocroft, of Broadbridge Lane in Smallfield, died at East Surrey Hospital on September 5.His nephew, David Roocroft,...
