PEOPLE in Reigate and Redhill have woken this morning to one of the hottest dawns in the last century.
The temperature at 6.20am was already 23C (73F) at Gatwick. This is several degrees higher than at the same time on the hottest day ever recorded in the UK - August 10th 2003.
The Met Office predicts the mercury could soar to as high as 34C (93F) today in Surrey, making it one of the most sweltering days on record.
