CRYSTAL Palace manager Alan Pardew has defended controversial Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley, insisting the Sports Direct supremo never interfered with team selection.
Pardew took over as Newcastle United manager in December 2010 before leaving four years later to take over at Palace.
But despite not enjoying a very good relationship with the fans at St James Park, Pardew insists he was on good terms with Ashley.
