A runway at Gatwick Airport was closed this afternoon leaving passengers delayed and flights diverted.
Residents who live nearby complained about the noise caused by planes circling the airport waiting for a landing slot due to the a hole in the tarmac.
Flights were redirected to Stansted and other airports during the temporary closure.
