AN aeroplane's emergency escape slide fell off at 3,000 feet in the air as it returned to Gatwick Airport following a problem at takeoff, a report has revealed.The Air Accident Investigation Branch published its findings last week into why a Boeing 757-300 made an unscheduled return to the airport on October 31 last year.Several minor issues are thought to have combined to loosen the slide release mechanism as the Egypt-bound Thomas Cook flight from Gatwick was taking off.
